As part of the "Carbon Neutrality" Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges project implemented by our coordination team, 35 young university students from France, Italy, Spain, Latvia, Slovenia, and North Macedonia have visited our university. This project aims to raise awareness among young people about issues such as carbon footprint, carbon emissions, and carbon trading, and to encourage them to take informed action on these topics.
The primary goal of the project is to raise awareness among youth regarding carbon footprints and carbon emissions, promote green entrepreneurship, and enable them to develop creative solutions for creating sustainable cities. Participants have enhanced their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while gaining knowledge about sustainable practices and carbon markets, as well as strengthening their leadership and collaboration abilities. During the project, participants received training on ways to reduce carbon footprints and carbon emissions and participated in various activities.
They also learned about the role of sustainable practices and carbon markets in promoting green entrepreneurship. Our rector, Prof. Dr. Alpay Arıbaşı, provided information about our university's environmental practices and Zero Waste project, and the young participants had the opportunity to ask questions regarding sustainability. Additionally, the Mayor of Aksaray, Dr. Evren Dinçer, visited to provide insights on green city initiatives.
Commenting on the impact of the Erasmus program, Coordinator Prof. Dr. Melayib Bilgin stated, “Erasmus plays a crucial role in the development of young people by providing them with unique opportunities to experience different cultures and perspectives. Programs like these not only enhance their academic knowledge but also empower them to become active global citizens who are aware of pressing issues such as climate change. By engaging in projects focused on sustainability, these young individuals are better equipped to contribute to solutions for our planet’s future.
